New Delhi 24 June 2026 (CCBI): Pope Leo XIV has appointed Fr. Anand David Xalxo (51), Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Ranchi and Parish Priest of St. Mary's Cathedral, Ranchi, as Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Ranchi on 24 June 2026.

Fr Anand David Xalxo was born on November 20, 1975 in Mandar, Archdiocese of Ranchi. He completed his studies at the following institutions: Elementary School in Mandar (1983–1989); High School at St. Ignatius School, Gumla (1990–1994); Minor Seminary at St. John Vianney Minor Seminary, Kolkata (1994–1996); Major Seminary at St. Albert’s College, Ranchi (1996–1999); College Studies at St. Xavier’s College, Ranchi (1999–2002); Theology at St. Albert’s College, Ranchi (2002–2006).
He was ordained a priest on May 15, 2006 for the same Archdiocese. After his ordination, he held the following positions and pursued further studies: Private Secretary to His Eminence Cardinal Toppo (2006–2009); Postgraduate Studies in Hospital Administration at Muller’s Hospital, Mangalore (2009–2011); Associate director of the CBCI Society for Medical Education, North India (2011–2015); President of Council of Diocesan Priests of India then BIJHAN Region (2011-2015) Governing Board Member of the Lieven’s Hospital Project, Mandar (2011–2020); Secretary to Secretary General CBCI Delhi (2015-2017).
He was the Public Relations Officer/PRO (2017-2020) Administrator of the Archbishop’s Residence, Ranchi (2019–2020); Parish Priest/Assistant Vicar at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Ranchi (since 2020); Director of the Social Development Center, Ranchi (since 2021); Director of Seminarians in Ranchi (2022–2026); Vicar General of Ranchi since 2024.
